On October 12, CATL signed an agreement with Medog County, Tibet Autonomous Region to donate the county's first supercharging station in the country, sowing a seed for the growth of clean energy transition in Tibet. 

Medog, a beautiful flower of plateau blooming in the global village 

Medog, which means "flower" in Tibetan, is located in the eastern section of the Himalayas on China’s southwestern border. Its special terrain structure makes it the last county in China connected to the outside world via highways. Its unique geographical location and climate environment create a magnificent natural environment, making it known as one of the last pure lands on earth. However, being surrounded by mountains also makes transportation and energy supply difficult in Medog. 

Supercharging station and Shenxing superfast charging battery reach the roof of the world

CATL strives to provide support for the development of China's western regions including Tibet. CATL not only actively engaged in energy sector in this area, but also provided more convenient superfast charging technology and services for electric vehicles refueling in Tibet. 

According to the plan, the supercharging station donated to Medog will use the industry-leading micro-grid supercharging system and platform provided by CATL and its subsidiary Shanghai SUNNIC New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (SUNNIC). The station can provide energy refueling services for dozens of electric vehicles simultaneously. Additionally, supported by the outstanding performance of the Shenxing superfast charging battery, it can realize 4C energy refueling speed, which means 400 km of driving range with a 10-minute charge. 

Supporting the electrification on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau 

CATL's superfast charging technology serves the global village 

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which was formed due to the collision of tectonic plates, boasts a clean environment and beautiful scenery. Although the mountainous terrain and volatile climate have brought great challenges to the construction of new energy facilities, Medog County will build a plateau supercharging station with the best comprehensive performance in Tibet, thanks to the efforts of all parties through leveraging multi-functional, high-protection supercharging system and technology, thus providing green superfast charging for local people's daily travel as well as facilitating the development of local culture, tourism and economy.
